Game Show helps teacher capture attention of students

By Natalie Walters

I am working with a 5th grade class that is very enthusiastic about trying new things in the classroom. I was searching for a new way to capture their attention when I found the Game Show Presenter software download.

"The students look forward to many more reviews and actually like to study knowing that they will be competing with the other groups. Thank you again for such an amazing program!"

I downloaded the program, and within just a few minutes, I had the tool that would change the way my students looked at reviewing for a test. I was able to enter riddles for the spelling words and definitions for the vocabulary words. I also included reading comprehension questions from the story we had just finished. The students never knew what type of question was coming up, and they were excited by the suspense. I was able to enter my group numbers and the computer tallied the score. The students thought the sound effects on the program were great.

After the review game, I asked the students to write a sentence or two to let me know if I should purchase the software or not. There was not one "no" in the group. Many of the 27 students stated that they had never had so much fun reviewing for a test. The only complaint I received was that I had not made one of the questions hard enough.

The students look forward to many more reviews and actually like to study knowing that they will be competing with the other groups. Thank you again for such an amazing program!
